Tomato - Organic Roma

Tomato 'Roma' (plum tomato) is the ultimate classic Italian paste tomato, world-famous for its heavy yields of dark-red, egg-shaped fruit. It features thick, meaty flesh, very few seeds, and low moisture content, giving it a rich, concentrated, balanced flavor. Exceptionally reliable and high-yielding, its firm, dense texture makes it the premier choice for rich pasta sauces, canning, sun-drying, purees, and homemade chutneys.

Planting Instructions

• Position: Requires a warm, sunny location receiving 6–8 hours of direct sun daily. Thrives in fertile, free-draining soil heavily amended with compost or well-rotted organic matter.
• Transplanting: Handle gently to protect roots. Plant slightly deeper than it was sitting in the nursery pot, burying the stem up to its lowest leaves to encourage root growth along the stem.
• Depth & Spacing: Space plants 50–60 cm apart. As a bushy (determinate) variety, it forms a compact plant, but short stakes or a small cage are recommended to keep heavy fruit clusters off the ground.
• Watering: Water deeply and consistently at the soil level to maintain even moisture. Consistent moisture helps prevent blossom end rot. Avoid splashing water onto foliage.
• Harvest: Harvest after 10–12 weeks when the fruit turns a deep, solid red and yields slightly to gentle pressure.
