Tomato - Organic Blue Berry

Tomato 'Blue Berry' (also known as Blue Berries) is a striking, highly productive cherry tomato variety known for its bite-sized, dark purple-shouldered fruit that ripens to a deep reddish-black. Rich in naturally occurring anthocyanin antioxidants—the same compounds found in blueberries—the skins deepen to a rich indigo-purple where touched by full sunlight. Offering a exceptionally sweet, fruity, and complex flavour, these colourful little tomatoes are resistant to cracking and make an eye-catching addition to fresh salads, summer platters, and snacks.

Planting Instructions

• Position: Plant in a warm, sunny position receiving maximum direct sunlight (at least 6–8 hours daily) to develop the rich, dark purple pigment and optimal sweet flavor. Requires rich, well-draining soil heavily amended with compost or well-rotted manure.
• Transplanting: Handle gently to avoid disturbing the roots. Plant slightly deeper than it sat in its nursery cell, burying the stem up to its lower leaves to encourage extra root development along the stem.
• Depth & Spacing: Space plants 50–60 cm apart in rows 90 cm apart. As an indeterminate climbing variety, install a tall stake (1.8m) or tomato cage at planting time to support its tall, heavy-fruiting vines.
• Watering: Water deeply and consistently at the base of the plant to keep soil moisture even. Avoid splashing water onto the leaves to keep foliage dry and free from fungal issues.
• Harvest: Harvest after 10–12 weeks when the underside of the fruit shifts from green to a deep red or mahogany color while maintaining its dark purple shoulders, and the fruit yields slightly to a gentle squeeze.
