Rock Melon - Hales Best

Sweet summer vine fruit, introduced to Europe from tropical Africa by the Romans. Plant in full sun, keep soil moist. Best to water roots not leaves to prevent mildew. Likes rich well drained soil, though not heavily fertilised, add lime to obtain pH of 6.5. Keep moist. Melons are ripe when the stem turns brown.
