Planting Instructions

• Position: Thrives in full sun to light partial afternoon shade in loose, fertile, well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Afternoon shade during hot weather helps ensure crisp, sweet leaf formation.
• Transplanting: Carefully handle seedlings to keep the root ball intact, easing them gently from their cells.
• Depth & Spacing: Plant at the same depth as the nursery container, taking care not to bury the central crown. Space plants 30 cm apart in rows 35–40 cm apart to allow room for tight, heavy heads to form.
• Watering: Water regularly and consistently to maintain even soil moisture. Inconsistent watering or drying out can lead to bitter leaves or poor head formation.
• Harvest: Harvest individual outer leaves while young, or cut the whole head at ground level when it feels firm and fully developed (around 10–12 weeks after transplanting).
