Chard - Organic Rainbow

A visual showstopper in the garden, Chard 'Rainbow' (also known as Swiss Chard or Silverbeet) produces striking, thick stalks in vibrant shades of ruby red, bright yellow, orange, magenta, and white. Its glossy, deeply crumpled dark-green leaves carry a mild, earthy taste similar to spinach. Highly resilient and ornamental, it produces a continuous, long-lasting harvest through both hot and cool weather.

Planting Instructions

• Position: Plant in full sun to light afternoon shade in rich, well-draining soil mixed with plenty of organic matter.
• Transplanting: Carefully remove seedlings from their nursery container to avoid disturbing the root system.
• Depth & Spacing: Set seedlings into the ground at the same soil depth as they were growing in their container. Space individual plants 30 cm apart in rows 40 cm apart to give the broad leaves room to spread.
• Watering: Water deeply right after planting to settle the soil around the roots. Maintain consistent moisture—regular watering prevents the stalks from becoming bitter or fibrous.
• Harvest: Cut outer stalks near the base when they reach 20–25 cm long, leaving the inner central leaves to keep producing for a continuous "cut-and-come-again" yield over many months.
