Native to the cold, pine-scented highlands and rocky terrains across the Northern Hemisphere, Juniper (Juniperus communis) produces aromatic, deep blue-purple seed cones commonly known as berries. Used since ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Native American times—and famed historically as the core botanical in traditional gin—Juniper Berries are an indispensable urinary, metabolic, and digestive botanical. Rich in volatile essential oils (alpha-pinene, sabinene, and myrcene), flavonoid antioxidants, and bitter resins, Juniper acts in Western herbalism and clinical naturopathy as a powerful aquaretic (stimulating water flushing without electrolyte depletion), warming carminative, and urinary tract disinfectant.
TASTE & ENERGETICS
- Taste: Pungent, pine-like, resinous, sweet, bitter, warming
- Energetics: Strongly warming, drying, stimulating, aquatic-moving
TRADITIONALLY USED FOR:
- Urinary System Flushing & Fluid Balance: Promoting fluid clearance, flushing the urinary bladder, and clearing metabolic waste products.
- Digestive Fire & Gas Reliever: Warming a cold, sluggish stomach, dispelling trapped gas, bloating, and post-meal stomach heaviness.
- Rheumatic & Joint Comfort: Supporting fluid balance around joints and encouraging metabolic clearance for comfortable structural movement.
- Kidney & Bladder Disinfection: Supplying volatile pinene compounds that tone and sanitize mucosal surfaces throughout the urinary pathways.
BREWING & PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Crushed Berry Infusion (Warming Urinary & Digestive Flush): Lightly crush 1 teaspoon of dried Juniper Berries using a mortar and pestle or the back of a spoon (cracking the outer skin is essential to release the active essential oils). Add to 1 cup of freshly boiled water, cover tightly with a saucer, and steep for 10–12 minutes. Strain and sip warm 1–2 times daily.
- Culinary & Botanical Tip: Excellent when lightly crushed into savory dishes or added sparingly to digestive bitter brews.
Pack Sizes & Servings:
- 15g Bag: Approx. 5 to 7 cups (Perfect for sampling)
- 25g Bag: Approx. 10 to 12 cups (Ideal for a 1-week daily routine)
- 50g Bag: Approx. 20 to 25 cups (Best value for a full month's daily ritual)
Calculated based on 1 gently heaped teaspoon (approx. 2g–3g) per 250ml cup.
Serving estimates are based on a standard 1 tsp (approx. 2g) per cup. Yield may vary slightly depending on the density of specific root, seed, or leaf blends.
