Equisetum arvense

Horsetail, or equisetum, is a group of grass plants from the Equisetaceae family, a plant family that has been around for about 400 million years. Because of this, horsetail has been deemed as a “living fossil,” because its existence dates back even before the dinosaurs.

Horsetail is used for

  • "fluid retention" (edema),
  • kidney and bladder stones,
  • urinary tract infections,
  • the inability to control urination (incontinence), and
  • general disturbances of the kidney and bladder.
