A vigorous climbing vine native to the temperate zones of Europe, Asia, and North America, Hops (Humulus lupulus) belongs to the Cannabaceae botanical family. Long celebrated beyond its role in traditional brewing, the papery female strobiles (cones) of Hops are laden with sticky, golden resin glands called lupulin. In European folk medicine and classical Western herbalism, Hops has been cherished for centuries as a potent sedating nervine, bitter digestive tonic, and musculoskeletal relaxant. Abundant in bitter resins (humulone and lupulone), volatile essential oils (myrcene and caryophyllene), and prenyldrapanoids (8-prenylnaringenin), Hops acts in modern clinical naturopathy to deeply quieten mental hyperactivity, ease visceral muscle tension, and promote restorative sleep.

TASTE & ENERGETICS

  • Taste: Distinctly bitter, resinous, aromatic, pine-like, earthy
  • Energetics: Strongly cooling, drying, deeply relaxing, sedating

TRADITIONALLY USED FOR:

  • Restful Sleep & Sleep Onset: Calming an overactive brain, easing restlessness, and supporting deep, uninterrupted nighttime sleep.
  • Nervous System & Tension Relief: Soothing nervous agitation, irritability, chronic worry, and physical tension held in the body.
  • Visceral Smooth Muscle Ease: Easing digestive spasms, nervous stomach tightness, and tension-driven intestinal discomfort.
  • Bitter Digestive Kindling: Stimulating digestive secretions, stomach acid, and bile production to encourage smooth digestion.

BREWING & PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Infusion (Evening Nightcap Tea): Add 1 teaspoon of dried Hops strobiles to 1 cup of freshly boiled water. Cover tightly with a saucer (essential to trap its soothing resinous volatile oils) and steep for 8–10 minutes. Strain and sip 30–45 minutes before bedtime.
  • Flavor Harmonizing Tip: Due to Hops’ pungent, bitter-aromatic profile, blend with sweet, gentle herbs like Chamomile, Lemon Balm, or Licorice Root for an ultra-soothing nightcap.

Pack Sizes & Servings:

  • 15g Bag: Approx. 5 to 7 cups (Perfect for sampling)
  • 25g Bag: Approx. 10 to 12 cups (Ideal for a 1-week daily routine)
  • 50g Bag: Approx. 20 to 25 cups (Best value for a full month's daily ritual)

Calculated based on 1 gently heaped teaspoon (approx. 2g–3g) per 250ml cup.

Serving estimates are based on a standard 1 tsp (approx. 2g) per cup. Yield may vary slightly depending on the density of specific root, seed, or leaf blends.
